Before establishing AirSurance, LLC. Don’s aviation insurance experience included working as an Aviation Insurance Underwriter for USAIG, one of the world’s largest, and most successful aviation insurance companies. As an Aviation Insurance Underwriter in Houston, and then Chicago, Don gained valuable experience underwriting large corporate flight departments, and large complex commercial operators as well as worker’s compensation and pleasure and business accounts. Wanting to be closer to the clients he was insuring, Don decided to switch gears from underwriting to representing insured’s as their advocate and broker. This move brought Don to Florida where he worked as an aviation insurance broker for a local agency for several years. It was while working for this agency that Don saw, firsthand, how truly out of touch many aviation agencies had become. They lacked that “personal touch”, and real aviation passion and knowledge that is so vital when dealing with aviation clients. It was this “eye opening” experience that led Don to start his own agency that get back to the basics, and do things right, and offer more than the other guys who had become complacent due to their lack of true passion and interest in aviation. Don’s basic philosophy being “An aviator understanding the specific needs of other aviators”. It’s that simple.
